A recent report by American Action Forum (AAF) examined current labor force trends and projected occupational growth rates in an attempt to shed light on the potential labor shortage in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) occupations. They concluded, if current trends continue, in 2024: The U.S. will be short 1.1 million STEM workers overall, and approximately one million of the unmet STEM worker demand will be for U.S. citizens. In addition, according to Burning Glass Technologies, coding and programming skills are in high demand, coding jobs pay more, and coding jobs are growing faster than the market.

Veterans

Many veterans need help. The transition to civilian life can sometimes be very difficult. WE LOVE OUR VETERANS. We want to help veterans with career change by arming them with the 21st Century critical, thinking job skills to get them to the next level.

Substance Abuse Victims:

More than one-quarter of the total homeless population nationwide lives in California, roughly 114,000 people. Many are recovering from addiction. For counselors, there are The 12 Core Functions of a Substance Abuse Counselor. We are not abuse counselors, but seek to address 2 of the core functions with our curriculum and partnerships with other non-profits:

  • Client Education

  • Consultation with Other Professionals

In short, we are all about 2nd chances.

Another way to address this shortage is our kids! Kids are our future, and according to KidsData.org there are 6,300 kids in foster care. And, only 15% of foster children will attend college, and fewer than 3% will earn a college degree.(www.childwelfare.gov). With our classes, we seek to give these kids opportunities with 21st Century job skills to reduce these statistics. Many do not even know these opportunities exist.

Again, we are all about 2nd chances.
